- Prof Enock Matovu will give an update on the application of the loop mediated Isothermal amplification (LAMP), which he taught and demonstrated to participants last year 2012,
- Fabrice Wane from the Inqaba Biotech Company Kenya, Will teach and demonstrate the SEEPLEX technology a newer and more moden multiplex PCR technology in a five and half contact hours total session subdivided into 3 sub sessions
- Prof Moses Joloba, HOD Microbiology, Makerere College of Health Science will teach and demonstrate Mycobacterium tuberculosis genotyping using the “mycobacterial interspersed repetitive units (MIRU)” a technology that is now preferred to the old restriction fragment length polymorphism [RFLP] technology.
- There are many more highlights this year. Please register for the program on or before 31st October 2013.
OBJECTIVES, AND MISSION of Spparenet Ltd
Our DG being briefed by collaborators
MISSION (See spparenet Ltd constitution)
To contribute to the reduction of preventable mortality and poverty in resource poor countries by conducting in-dept cutting-edge studies aimed at improving our overall knowledge and competencies in the diagnosis, management, prevention and control of special pathogens related tropical diseases
OBJECTIVES:(from spparenet Ltd constitution)
1. To outline the transmission dynamics and population structure of special pathogens involved in tropical diseases using cutting-edge multidisciplinary approaches
2. To develop and demonstrate innovative ways for early detection (Diagnostic tools), prevention (Vaccine) and control (management) of disease associated with special pathogens ...read more...
How we intend to achieve the above objectives are to:
The above objectives which we intend to achieve through the above approaches will be paid for by your donation. Spparenet is a not-for-profit community based organization which depends absolutely on the free gifts [money and/or equipments] from you to pay for its activities to the local communities in resource poor settings. Please remember that no gift is two small and people are waiting to match your gift so as to own a piece of this Network's initiatives. The challenge is big but the resources is very minimal. Every second, millions of people die or are incapacitated by the identified special pathogens in resource poor settings. This network has identified the pathogens and urgently need your free gifts to build sustainable local capacities to face this continental challenge. So send in your help so that together we can say enough to preventable death and poverty. Thanks once again for your assistance to this rare initiative and God bless !
Our work plan!
The challenges are enormous and the resources are highly limited. We therefore intend to use our first five years of existence [2011-2015] to establish a sustainable system and a structure to support the system aimed at waging a result oriented war against the identified special pathogens. Thus, by 2015, we should have

Thus, by 2015, we should have
- ranked our research priorities by using existing data to regionally map resource-poor countries [e.g. Uganda]
- quantified the magnitude of the problem by conducting need assessment surveys
